Set up work blocks

Blocks split each service in Planning: a piece, a break, tuning… The block types are the same in every institution and can’t be created or renamed, but your institution decides their colour, which ones take pieces and which ones are offered. They’re set up in Settings › General settings › Activity. How they’re used in each service is explained in Organize the work plan.

  1. Go to Work blocks. If you have several contracts, first choose one from your institution at the top, in Contract.
  2. To change a type’s colour, click the colour circle in its row and choose another one.
  3. Turn on Piece for the types that take pieces from the program.
  4. Leave Active on for the types you want to use.

Changes are saved automatically. There are ten types: piece, break, warm-up, vocalization, tuning, setup, notes, audience reception, presentation and free time. They all start active, and only the piece takes pieces.

  • Piece. In Planning, only blocks of these types have Add piece and accept dragged pieces. Pieces bring their roster with them: who works in that block.
  • Active. Only active types are offered when you click Add block in a service. Existing blocks keep their type even if you deactivate it. In use shows how many blocks use it.
  • Work time. Marks the type as working time. Right now it doesn’t change the hours or services counted for anyone.
  • The colour is the one used for the block’s icon and bar in Planning.
  • A block type isn’t offered when adding a block. It’s deactivated: turn on Active in its row.
  • A block won’t let you add pieces. Its type doesn’t have Piece turned on.
  • The Piece and Work time switches can’t be changed. The type is deactivated: activate it first.
  • The page opens with Your role lets you see these settings, but not change them.. Your access role can see the work blocks but not change them. Talk to the person who manages your institution.
  • Please select a contract to set up services appears. You have All selected at the top. Choose a specific contract in Contract.
  • You don’t see Work blocks in the settings. Your access role doesn’t include it. Talk to the person who manages your institution.
